Senior Co-Curricular Offerings

At Guildford Grammar School, our Co-Curricular program is a cornerstone of student life, offering rich opportunities to explore passions, build skills and develop character. Designed to complement the Academic Curriculum, these programs provide students with experiences that foster resilience, leadership and a sense of community.

Guildford Grammar’s enrichment programs reflect our commitment to holistic education. Whether through service learning, skills development, arts or sports, we provide students with the tools and experiences they need to thrive, grow and contribute meaningfully to the world around them. 

Co-Curricular Program: A World of Opportunities

Guildford Grammar offers a rich array of co-curricular activities designed to nurture every student’s talents and interests. Students engage in sports, the arts, clubs and service learning, all of which contribute to their holistic development. 

Below is a sample of the co-curricular opportunities we offer, though specific offerings may change from year to year and semester to semester:

Guildford Connect (Year 10 Service Learning), Community Engagement Initiatives, Social Justice Projects.

Years 7-9 Cadets (Robotics, problem solving and team work), ADF Cadets (Years 10-12 leadership, resilience, service).

Yoga, Pilates, Mindfulness, Fitness, Outdoor Adventure Programs, Hiking.

These opportunities provide students with a chance to explore new interests, challenge themselves and build lifelong skills. 

Years 10-12 Friday Afternoon Enrichment Program: Discover, Explore, Excel

In addition to the co-curricular offerings, Guildford Grammar’s compulsory Friday Afternoon Enrichment Program for Years 10-12 provides students with the opportunity to explore new areas of interest, develop life skills and participate in activities that are outside the scope of traditional classroom learning. Running from 1.00pm-3.30pm each Friday, this program features a wide range of options, including leadership workshops, service projects, academic extension, arts and wellbeing activities. 

Students are encouraged to select from a diverse array of enrichment activities that will broaden their horizons and enhance their overall school experience. The program is designed to cultivate curiosity, foster growth and develop skills that will serve students well into adulthood. 

Year 10: Guildford Connect

Guildford Connect is a bespoke Year 10 service-learning program designed to deepen students’ understanding of social responsibility and community engagement. Through weekly local and global service projects, students gain hands-on experience contributing to their communities while critically examining social justice issues. By applying their learning in real-world contexts, Guildford Connect fosters empathy, teamwork and leadership, empowering students to make meaningful contributions to the wider world.

ADF Cadets Program

The Cadets Program at Guildford Grammar is a well-established tradition, providing students with valuable life skills, leadership opportunities and a sense of service. We offer two distinct cadet programs:

  • Guildford cadets for students in Years 7-9, focusing on technology with robotics and coding, personal development, teamwork and outdoor activities.
  • ADF Cadets for Years 10-12, in partnership with the Australian Defence Force, which offers students further leadership training and the chance to participate in military-based activities and exercises.

These programs instil discipline, resilience and teamwork, preparing students for future leadership roles.

Skills Development Opportunities

Guildford Grammar provides students with a range of opportunities to develop essential life skills: 

  • Keys for Life Program: Teaches driving safety, road rules and responsible car ownership through workshops and practical sessions. Completion earns SCASA endorsement, preparing students for independent living. 
  • Sports Assisting Program: Offers students the chance to coach, scorekeep or referee, gaining valuable skills while earning community service hours through Guildford Connect. 

Years 11-12: Building Towards the Future

For senior students, we offer tailored programs to help them excel in their final years of school and prepare for life beyond: 

  • Service Learning: Opportunities to work with organisations such as Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, Foodbank and Thread Together, providing students with meaningful ways to give back. 
  • Wellbeing Initiatives: Programs like Wellstrong, yoga and mindfulness sessions help students balance the pressures of senior studies with physical and mental wellbeing. 
  • Arts Programs: From visual arts to senior musical band and cast rehearsals, students can express their creativity and contribute to the vibrant cultural life of the school. 
  • Sports Development Program: Tailored sessions to enhance athletic performance and refine sports-specific skills. 
  • Year 12 WACE Exam Preparation: Dedicated sessions in Term 3 support students in their final academic pursuits.

Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

Guildford Grammar School offers students in Years 9-12 the opportunity to participate in the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. This internationally recognised program encourages personal growth through challenges in areas such as physical activity, skill development, volunteering and outdoor expeditions. 

Students set and work towards individual goals, supported by the school’s dedicated mentors and resources. The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award fosters resilience, leadership and a strong sense of social responsibility, empowering students to make a meaningful impact both within the school and the broader community.
