Boodja Bidi Program
Boodja Bidi – A Pathway of Culture, Connection and Opportunity
We are proud to walk alongside our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students as they grow in confidence and identity. Boodja Bidi, meaning “land path,” reflects this shared journey. One that is grounded in respect, belonging and possibility.
Our approach is shaped in deep partnership with community. Families, Elders and Indigenous leaders guide the way forward, helping us create a culturally responsive environment where students are supported and celebrated.
Partnerships Informed by Culture and Community
Central to our work is a strong, evolving partnership with Corroboree for Life and Gather Foods. Both Aboriginal owned and operated organisations, deeply rooted in community and informed by Elders.
Together, we create meaningful opportunities for students to connect with culture in ways that are lived. Our students have the opportunity to explore native ingredients and learn traditional techniques, to gain hospitality skills and learn how to welcome guests to community events. They are immersed in a program that blends cultural learning with real-world experience.
These experiences provide a space where students grow in cultural confidence, develop leadership skills and strengthen their connection to each other and to Country.
Walking with Purpose
Every aspect of our Boodja Bidi programs is designed to honour identity and create pathways for personal and collective growth. Whether through dance, performance, storytelling or service, students are encouraged to lead with pride and achieve their potential.
The Boodja Bidi Performance Group plays a special role in this journey. Bringing students together to share culture through movement and music, guided by mentors from Corroboree for Life. These performances are a celebration of resilience and unity, giving our students a place to lead and belong amongst their peers.
Celebrating Strength and Success
Our students bring strength, talent and perspective to every corner of School life. We recognise their achievements and support their aspirations, both in and outside of the classroom. Through a combination of cultural mentoring, academic support and leadership opportunities, we walk with them as they grow into grounded, capable young people ready to Go Forward, proud of who they are and where they come from.
A Living Commitment to Reconciliation
Our journey of reconciliation is ongoing and active. It is reflected in the everyday experiences of our students and staff, and embedded in our efforts to ensure that Indigenous perspectives are part of the fabric of Guildford Grammar School.
This work is supported by an emerging Reconciliation Action Plan and driven by a commitment to truth, respect and shared responsibility. Through learning, listening and leading together, we are building a school culture that honours the past, values the present and looks boldly to the future.
