Stories of Purpose and Joy

Kate and Renae

Renae Cirillo and Kate Kerr: Digital Integration Coaches

As Digital Integration Coaches, Renae Cirillo and Kate Kerr are helping staff and students across the School build confidence with technology and unlock new ways to engage with learning. Whether they’re supporting a Year 1 coding project, filming a Noongar language video, or running a session on AI, no two days look the same.

Renae joined the School at the start of 2025, while Kate came on board in Term 2, 2024. With backgrounds in teaching, digital learning and language education, both bring unique experience and energy to the role.

Supporting Learning Through Technology

Renae and Kate work across both the Preparatory and Senior campuses, collaborating with staff and students from Little Explorers to Year 12. Their work includes one-on-one coaching with teachers, class support, and the development of student-led projects that link technology with the curriculum.

“Kate and I spend a lot of time moving between the libraries,” says Renae. “We support classes, run skill-building sessions and help bring creative ideas to life using technology.”

Kate says the variety is what makes the role so rewarding. “One day I might be helping Prep students record animal videos in Noongar. The next I’m delivering a presentation on artificial intelligence in the Senior School. Every day brings something new.”

Both are passionate about purposeful use of technology. “We’re here to help people feel confident and capable,” says Renae. “It’s about more than tools. It’s about building creativity, collaboration and problem-solving.” Kate agrees. “Technology should support the learning, not distract from it. When used well, it becomes a powerful way to explore ideas and connect thinking.”

Relationships at the Centre

For both Renae and Kate, the relationships they’ve built with staff and students have been a highlight of their time at the School.

“It’s a big campus and remembering names is a work in progress,” Renae admits, “but the welcome we’ve received has been incredible. The community has been so open and enthusiastic.”

Kate adds, “I love the energy here. People are willing to try new things and collaborate. There’s a real sense of shared purpose.”

Outside the classroom, Renae enjoys reading, Pilates, beach walks and snorkelling. Kate spends her time discovering new restaurants, reading, travelling, and knitting. A skill picked up thanks to the Prep Knit-Wits. Her favourite destinations so far include Iceland and South Korea.

Whether they’re leading staff workshops, troubleshooting in a classroom, or championing new ideas, Renae and Kate are helping to shape a learning environment where technology supports curiosity and confidence. And where students are empowered to explore what’s possible.
