Equestrian

The Equestrian program at Zia Park offers mixed-gender opportunities for students in Prep through Year 9 during Terms 2 and 3, running as a Friday afternoon activity. Prep students engage in classroom sessions on Tuesday mornings and riding lessons on Thursday afternoons, developing foundational riding and horsemanship skills. The Year 7–9 program is conducted off-campus at Zia Park Equestrian Centre in Gidgegannup and is aimed at beginner and novice riders who do not own or lease a horse. Qualified coaches deliver lessons aligned with the Pony Club Australia Curriculum, covering both mounted and unmounted skills, with students working toward nationally recognised Pony Club certificates.

For more experienced riders in Years 7–12, the Interschool Equestrian Program provides competitive opportunities during Terms 1 and 4, including qualifying events throughout the year and culminating in the State Interschool Championships during the April school holidays. Training for these riders is held at Delamerie Park in Bullsbrook and the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon. This program is designed for students with their own or leased horses who actively compete in sanctioned Equestrian WA or Pony Club WA events, with many participants achieving selection for State teams.

This pathway allows students to progress from beginner riding to high-level competition while developing horsemanship, teamwork, and competitive skills.
