Head of Sport (2024)
David Guest
Since joining Guildford Grammar School in 2024, David Guest has brought the same discipline, resilience and drive that defined his career as an Olympian into shaping our Sport program.
Drawing on his experience as both an Olympic athlete and coach, David has led with vision and determination, ensuring our sport program continues to grow stronger with every season. His focus is not only on performance but also on character – building resilience, teamwork and commitment in every student who pulls on the Guildford colours.
David’s leadership is helping create opportunities across all levels of sport, from encouraging participation to guiding those with aspirations at the highest level. His work embodies Guildford Grit: hard work, perseverance and the belief that growth comes from challenge.
An outstanding ambassador for Guildford Grammar School, David Guest continues to inspire our students to go forward with confidence, courage and purpose.
Head of Basketball (2024)
Shawn Stone
Shawn Stone joined Guildford Grammar as Head of Basketball in 2024. He saw the School as the ideal place to unite ambition with opportunity, and to shape a culture where players grow both on and off the court.
His focus is on building a competitive program that also values individual development. Shawn believes that basketball can help students develop resilience, discipline and confidence, with competition and personal growth working hand in hand.
Drawing on global networks and constant study of coaching trends, Shawn brings fresh ideas and practices to his teams. Looking ahead, he is excited to see both boys’ and girls’ programs embrace a culture of excellence, where skill and spirit combine to create lasting success.
GK Swimming Partnership
Katerina McKay
GK Swimming has appointed Katerina McKay to lead Guildford Grammar School squad training and guide our teams into PSA and ACC carnivals.
Katerina brings more than six years of coaching experience across Learn to Swim, squad and performance pathways, including swimmers who have qualified at State and National level. As a former competitive swimmer herself, she understands the balance required between high-level sport and academic commitments.
Her coaching philosophy focuses on developing the student first and the athlete second, with a strong emphasis on confidence, resilience, teamwork and enjoyment. Katerina’s goal is to increase student participation in swimming while continuing to build a strong and competitive interschool presence for Guildford Grammar.
Head of Football (2024)
Brent McPherson
Brent McPherson became Head of Football at Guildford Grammar in 2024, drawn to the opportunity to lead a program at a school he holds in high esteem.
His goal is to create an environment where every player understands the standards expected and works together to achieve them. Brent sees this culture of accountability as the foundation for excellence and the key to building a stronger football school.
Balancing competition with personal growth, Brent wants students to discover their potential in a positive and supportive setting. Passionate about sport and culture-building, he draws inspiration from coaches and teams around the world, and leans on his strong network to stay current with trends.
Looking forward, Brent hopes to see greater competitiveness across Guildford Grammar teams and increased participation in football at all levels.
Director of Rowing (1990)
Tony Lovrich
Tony Lovrich joined Guildford Grammar in 1990 and is Director of Rowing. Inspired by his own journey as a competitor and encouraged by Old Guildfordian and Olympian Geoff Hale, Tony has dedicated decades to shaping the rowing program.
He believes rowing offers a unique opportunity for holistic growth. The program challenges students physically and mentally, while also teaching the value of teamwork, resilience and shared purpose. Tony is committed to providing constant encouragement and support so that students develop confidence alongside competitive spirit.
To stay current, Tony draws on the expertise of leaders in the sport, recently welcoming Olympian Georgia Patten to share her knowledge with staff and students. His outlook is to keep the Boat Shed a place of fulfilment, belonging and growth for every student.
Head Triathlon Coach (2022)
Emma Moon
Emma Moon joined Guildford Grammar in 2022 and is Head Triathlon Coach. She is eager to share her love of the sport and help students develop in a supportive, team-focused environment.
Her approach centres on encouraging fitness and goal-setting, with students guided to build training plans that match their aspirations. By focusing on individual pathways within a team context, Emma balances personal growth with the demands of competition.
She stays connected with the latest trends through local competition, her links with Triathlon WA, and active involvement in the wider sporting community. Looking ahead, Emma hopes to expand the triathlon program, strengthening the community and building pathways for students ready to perform at higher levels.
Head of Cricket
Viv Paver
Viv joined Guildford Grammar in 2020. As an ex-PSA student accredited in both elite athlete wellbeing and high-performance psychology, he is eager to ensure that cricket at Guildford remains an important student vehicle for personal growth, contribution and connection.
Viv’s holistic approach encourages students to explore their potential intentionally and multi-dimensionally. Actively targeting the development of mind, body and social connection, Viv wants Guildford cricketers to develop robust self-efficacy. His belief is that by identifying and developing personal skills and strengths, athletes can transfer skills learned in sport to life more broadly, becoming competent and confident contributors to their teams, friendships and families.
Viv was UWA Sport’s coach of the year in 2023 and remains active in developing his own skills and contemporary knowledge. Driving outcomes of elevated experience and high-performance, Viv is excited to continually contribute to the meaningful legacy of Guildford cricket.
Equestrian Sports Manager (2018)
Jodie Vance
Jodie Vance joined Guildford Grammar in 2018 and is Equestrian Sports Manager. Combining her personal passion for riding with the opportunity to build a distinctive program, Jodie has helped establish equestrian as a unique part of the School’s sporting landscape.
Her vision is to represent Guildford Grammar positively and inclusively, while helping students strive for personal bests in competition. Above all, she reminds riders of the privilege of working with horses, and the responsibility of ensuring their welfare.
As a competitive rider herself, Jodie stays current through regular training with accredited coaches and ongoing learning. Looking forward, she sees the equestrian program continuing to grow, with ambitions for expanded facilities and greater opportunities for boarding students to bring horses onto campus.
Head Athletics Coach
Sam Thornley
Sam is drawn to Guildford Grammar due to the great history and culture of the school. Keen to add a chapter to the storied history of the Rugby Program.
His mission is to build a strong, competitive and Holistic rugby program, centred in developing athletes that can contribute to the rugby community in WA as a whole. Catering to all levels of the game whether as a player, referee or coach in their future.
He aims to promote some of the key values of Rugby as a sport including mate-ship, hard work, and inclusiveness. To stay current he maintains links in club rugby and is involved in Academy and representative coaching pathways.
Aiming to upskill and develop his coaching to continue to develop the Guildford Grammar rugby program. His vision is to build a rugby program that competes, creates pathways for students, builds skills relevant for life and creates enjoyment for the students.
Head Athletics Coach
Rebecca Del Pup
Rebecca Del Pup joined Guildford Grammar and is Head Athletics Coach. She combines her expertise as a coach with a passion for student development, leading a program that inspires students to strive for personal bests while learning resilience, teamwork and leadership.
Rebecca sees athletics not only as a platform for competition, but also as a way to foster confidence and joy in young people. She draws on her experience across school sport and her connections within the athletics community to stay informed about training practices and opportunities.
Her vision is to strengthen the athletics culture at Guildford Grammar, providing pathways for students of all levels and celebrating the achievements of every individual who takes part.
Head of Netball (2025)
Lauren Radici
Lauren Radici joined Guildford Grammar in 2025 and is Head of Netball. With a passion for coaching and player development, she aims to elevate the program through engagement, performance and inclusivity.
Her goals are to build strong team culture, raise standards of play, and ensure every student feels valued and inspired. Lauren sees competition as a powerful tool for developing resilience, teamwork and confidence, while also creating joy in the game.
Through her work in the Western Australian Netball League, Lauren stays connected to evolving strategies and brings fresh insights to Guildford Grammar. In the year ahead, she hopes to establish clear development pathways and a culture that celebrates both effort and achievement, shaping confident, connected players with a genuine love for netball.
Head Tennis Coach (2017)
Cameron Fenner
Cameron Fenner joined Guildford Grammar in 2017 and is Head Tennis Coach. Driven by a passion to see the School achieve more in the sport, he focuses on improving results while fostering resilience and commitment among players.
Cameron sees competition and personal growth as deeply linked, with progress in one driving success in the other. He values the dedication of Guildford Grammar students and their desire to keep improving.
To refine his coaching, Cameron studies elite-level matches, ensuring his players are exposed to the standards of top competition. Looking ahead, he is optimistic about the future of tennis at the School, with a young Firsts team set to grow in experience and strong talent emerging from younger year levels.
Head of Hockey
Fay Nash
Fay Nash joined Guildford Grammar School in 2025 as the Head of Hockey, Fay brings extensive experience from the highest levels of the sport, having proudly represented both England and Great Britain on the international stage. Fays background as a national player informs a coaching philosophy rooted in excellence, discipline, and a deep love for the game.
Over the years, Fay has worked with a vast range of ages and abilities—from beginners discovering the sport to elite athletes refining their performance. This breadth of experience allows Fay to tailor coaching to each student’s needs, helping them grow in skill, confidence, and character.
At Guildford Grammar School, Fay is passionate about developing a dynamic and inclusive hockey program that inspires students, nurtures talent, and drives the sport forward within our school community.
Head of Soccer
Jim Dean
Jim Dean joined the soccer program at Guildford Grammar in 2018 and has now taken on the role of Head of Soccer from the start of 2026.
He has over 30 years of experience working in soccer development in both the junior and senior game and has worked for some high-profile clubs in the UK. His coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that all players matter regardless of their ability and with hard work and dedication all participants can improve.
With a clear long term player development plan in place, he feels that we a have a clear pathway for our pupils to play in a competitive environment where the standards we have set are of the upmost importance in building a culture within the soccer program we can all be proud of.
Head of Volleyball
Carly Walters
Carly Walters joined Guildford Grammar in Term 4 2024 as Head of Volleyball. Carly’s passion for volleyball spans for over 37 years now as her journey along with the students at Guildford Grammar started at high school.
Her drive to see the sport of volleyball become a force at the school has spurred newfound interest. A place where students are welcomed to explore the sport and find a sense of belonging. Volleyball can encourage new friendships and a strong community sense. It can help to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork all while having fun playing the game.
Carly was Volleyball WA’s 2024 coach of the year and Order of Merit recipient. With her 16 years’ experience coaching at a state level with youths/juniors, 5 years with the senior women’s team and now also at a national level. Carly hopes that this experience can bring a high-performance level to the school and pave the way for students to the elite level.
