Master Plan Projects
Aquatic and Sports Centre
The Aquatic and Sports Centre is the first major project to move forward from Guildford Grammar School’s Master Plan, launched in 2025. This exciting development will provide state-of-the-art facilities for sport, fitness and wellbeing, and is envisioned as a community hub that brings people together both in and beyond the classroom.
As part of the early planning process, we have assessed current facilities and identified the need to replace the existing swimming pool, which has reached the end of its functional life. With growing demand across a wide range of sporting and aquatic programs, and as a coeducational school, the Centre will ensure our students have access to facilities that match their ambition, participation and talent.
The project is currently in its early stages. Over the coming months, we will invite students, parents, staff, alumni and the wider Guildford Grammar community to contribute to the design and use of the Centre, ensuring it reflects the needs of today while leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.

The Master Plan is the School’s long-term vision, launched earlier this year, to guide the development of our campus over the next decade. It sets a clear direction for facilities, learning environments, and community spaces to ensure Guildford Grammar continues to meet the needs of current and future students.
This year we opened two new boarding houses, School House and Freeth House, and we are on track to open the Senior Administration building at the start of 2026. These projects represent the first tangible steps in realising the Master Plan.
The next major project to move forward under the Master Plan is the Aquatic and Sports Centre. This facility will provide significant opportunities for our students and will support the School’s strong programs in sport, health and wellbeing.
We are currently in the early planning phase. The next step is to consult with students, staff, parents and the wider community to help guide the design and use of the Centre. Following this consultation and finalisation of design, a construction timeline will be shared.
As identified through the Master Planning process, the Aquatic and Sports Centre is earmarked to be located to the left-hand side of the main School entrance when you drive in just past the Hockey Turf. This is subject to change as the design phase is undertaken.
The design and facilities have not yet been determined. This is why the consultation process is so important- to ensure the Centre reflects the priorities of our community while also being sustainable for the future.
Results from the Annual Parent Survey from 2024 and 2025 will directly feed into the development of the project. In addition, stakeholder consultation, including workshops, focus groups, and other opportunities for feedback will be undertaken in 2026.
The Master Plan is supported through a combination of careful financial planning, budget allocation, and feasibility assessments with the School Council and Foundation. Philanthropy and community support will also play a role in the funding of the Master Plan. The Master Plan is not funded through our School Tuition Fees.
The focus for now is on the Aquatic and Sports Centre, however feasibility work continues for future projects within the Master Plan. Details will be shared as plans are confirmed, but the guiding principle is to ensure developments are sequenced responsibly while continuing to deliver outstanding opportunities for students.
The decision to begin with the Aquatic and Sports Centre reflects a careful balance of priorities. Sport and physical wellbeing are central to life at Guildford Grammar, and our students participate in a wide range of activities that place increasing demand on our existing facilities, that and to ensure we are accommodating in being a coeducational school. As part of the Master Plan process, we undertook a detailed assessment of our current sporting and aquatic spaces, considered patterns of student use, and explored how demand is likely to grow in the years ahead. This review also highlighted that our existing swimming pool has reached the end of its functional life and requires replacement. Alongside this, feasibility studies confirmed that the Aquatic and Sports Centre is a sustainable and achievable first step.
Equally important, feedback from parents, staff, students and alumni consistently highlighted the value of enhanced sporting and aquatic facilities. Taken together, this made the Aquatic and Sports Centre the right project to lead the way in continuing to bring the Master Plan to life. The Centre is envisioned not only as a place for training and competition, but as a community facility, a space that brings people together, supports wellbeing, and serves current students, future generations, and the wider Guildford Grammar community.
Current students are already benefiting from new facilities like School and Freeth Houses, and they will see further opportunities open up through the Sports and Aquatic Centre in the coming years. While the project is underway, the School will continue to provide the same high level of programs and experiences that families expect. It is also worth remembering that many of the facilities our students enjoy today were made possible by the planning and investment of those who came before them. In the same way, the projects we are undertaking now will benefit both today’s students and future generations of Guildford students.
