Master Plan Projects
Senior Administration Building
From the beginning of 2026, this historic space will begin its next chapter, carefully renovated and modernised to continue as the Senior Administration Building. The redevelopment preserves the heritage of the site while ensuring it is fit for purpose for today’s students and staff.
Opened in 1925 as a gymnasium, the building has served many roles over its lifetime. In 1959, during a period of significant growth, it was repurposed with the addition of a mezzanine and became home to the Masters’ Common Room, the Headmaster’s Office, and three classrooms, as well as a library and art gallery — reflecting the School’s commitment to both academic and cultural development. In the decades since, it has continued to evolve, later known as the Headmaster’s Administration and most recently the Senior Administration Building, with each stage of redevelopment carefully balancing modernisation with respect for its historic character.
Its enduring presence on campus is a reminder of the School’s ability to adapt and evolve while honouring its heritage. The Senior Administration Building continues that story: building on strong foundations, respecting the past, and preparing thoughtfully for tomorrow. In redeveloping this space, we are taking the same care we always have to preserve the distinctive visual harmony of our campus while ensuring our facilities meet the needs of generations to come.
Students
For students, the building will provide a central point for everyday needs from signing in and out, to attending specialist appointments, meeting with staff, or connecting with parents for pick-up and drop-off. By bringing these services together in one revitalised location, it will make student life more seamless and supported.
Staff
For staff, the redevelopment will offer welcoming and functional facilities, including a staff common room, kitchen space, meeting rooms and areas for collaboration and connection. These new spaces will create opportunities for professional exchange and collegiality, while still retaining the sense of belonging that has always characterised the building.
Parents
For parents, the redeveloped Senior Administration Building will provide a clear and accessible point of connection with the School. Whether arriving for student pick-up and drop-off, attending a scheduled meeting, or engaging with staff regarding their child’s needs, parents will benefit from the convenience of having these services centralised in one welcoming location. The refreshed design will make interactions smoother and more efficient, while also offering a professional and approachable environment that reflects the care and respect with which Guildford Grammar School partners with families.
