Our Anglican Ethos

Our Anglican ethos is woven into the fabric of our community, guiding us in fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment for all.

Rooted in values of compassion, respect, integrity and service, our Anglican tradition shapes our approach to education and underpins our commitment to the whole-person development of each student. We encourage students to explore their spirituality, develop a moral compass and engage with the world with empathy and purpose. This ethos is more than a guiding principle—it is the foundation of our mission to inspire students to lead lives of meaning, integrity and service to others.

At the heart of our community stands the Chapel of St Mary and St George.

This sacred space holds a cherished role in the life of Guildford Grammar School, where students, staff and families come together to celebrate milestones, seek guidance and find moments of peace. The Chapel represents our commitment to spiritual growth and unity, offering a place where all can feel welcome and valued, regardless of background.

Through regular Chapel services, students are encouraged to reflect on values of compassion, respect and resilience, grounded in the Anglican tradition. These gatherings, enriched by the joy and unity of congregational singing, instil a sense of community and belonging, reminding each person of the greater purpose that binds us together. The Chapel’s presence extends beyond its walls, symbolising a shared commitment to faith, character and service that defines the Guildford Grammar experience.
