Guildford Grammar Hosts
2025 Head of the River
Our School hosted the 2025 Head of the River Regatta at Champion Lakes on Saturday 22 March, bringing together hundreds of supporters for a morning of elite racing, strong performances and lifelong memories for our students and community.
Crews Rise to the Challenge
After months of preparation, our rowers delivered across the board. The 2nd VIII powered to an exceptional first-place finish, while the 1st VIII and 3rd VIII fought hard to claim second on their respective races. With consistent results throughout the regatta, Guildford Grammar finished third overall in the Hamer Cup – an outstanding outcome that reflects the grit and determination of the entire shed.
Spirit on the Water and on the Shore
Every Guildford crew raced with purpose, composure and strength, from our Year 9 rowers through to the Year 12s in their final outing in School colours. The support onshore matched the effort on the water, with a strong Guildford cheer squad turning out in full voice. The Guildford Grammar marquee was a hub of energy, as students, families, Old Guildfordians and our volunteers rallied behind our crews in a true show of School spirit.
A Whole Community Effort
A large number of our rowing girls also played an important role behind the scenes, helping the day run smoothly and showing the depth of commitment across our student body. Volunteers, staff and the Guildford Rowing Association were instrumental in delivering a seamless event – whether running logistics, cooking up legendary egg and bacon rolls or cheering from the sidelines.
Proud of Every Rower
The Head of the River stands as a highlight on the PSA calendar and this year’s event captured everything the sport represents – discipline, respect, grit and camaraderie.
We thank the PSA and all participating schools for a day of exceptional racing. To our dedicated coaches and staff, volunteers, families and supporters – your time, effort and belief in our students made the difference.
And to our rowers: your commitment, grit and teamwork reflect the very best of Guildford Grammar School. We are proud of what you have achieved and look forward to what’s next.
