Early Learning

Our Early Learners have lots of whys!

Early Learning at Guildford Grammar SchoolChildren  have a natural curiosity about the world around them that leads them to explore, question and learn.  They are capable and competent learners and our Early Learning Centre focuses on providing time and opportunity for children to develop at their own pace.

Our Early Learning Centre is made up of:

Pre-Kindergarten (3-year-old Kindy)
Kindergarten and Pre-Primary
Years 1 and 2

Our educators focus on observing and participating in children's play, thinking and conversations, to develop a program that is guided by the children's interests and learning needs.  This creates a meaningful context for children to apply their developing literacy, numeracy and inquiry skills.

Early Learning at Guildford Grammar SchoolChildren construct their knowledge and skills through hands-on and engaging learning experiences that include a balance between teacher directed instruction, individual and small group activities and independent exploration and application of skills.

Our learning environment is a warm and welcome space where children feel a sense of belonging and community. Each space within the classroom is designed with clear intentions as a invitation for children to develop, explore, apply and consolidate their skills.

Connection to  nature is an integral part of our Early Learning program with the unstructured natural environment providing opportunities for discovery, inquiry, rich conversations and for children to build confidence and positive risk-taking skills, both of which are key capabilities required for future academic success.
