Boarding FAQs

Our boarding staff provide 24/7 support to ensure your child’s safety, wellbeing and success. Each student is part of a close-knit house community with live-in staff, including Year Coordinators and Heads of Boarding, who oversee day-to-day life and provide personalised care. Our team also includes pastoral care professionals, school counsellors and academic support staff who work together to ensure every boarder thrives.

Our Guildford Way onboarding program is designed to ensure a smooth transition to boarding. Starting nine months before arrival, this program includes events, home visits, online sessions and an orientation weekend to help students and families feel connected and prepared. Once they arrive, new boarders are supported by mentors, staff and peers who help them settle into their new home.

Boarders follow a structured daily routine that includes shared meals, school hours, supervised study sessions and recreational activities. Weekends offer a mix of organised outings, on-campus activities and downtime for relaxation or personal pursuits. This balance ensures students have time for academics, social connections and rest.

Our Boarding Precinct offers state-of-the-art facilities, including comfortable living spaces, recreational areas and access to the school’s gym, pool and creative arts spaces. The 78-hectare campus also provides ample outdoor areas for sport and leisure activities.

Boarders may leave campus on weekends for pre-approved visits with parents, guardians or hosts. Permission is coordinated with boarding staff to ensure safety and clear communication. On-campus activities and excursions are also available for those staying at school.

Boarders have access to structured study sessions, with staff and teachers available for academic support. They benefit from the school’s resources, including the library, technology and subject-specific guidance, ensuring they are well-prepared for success.

Our recreation program includes a wide variety of activities, from sporting events and creative workshops to excursions like cinema trips and community outings. These activities help students build friendships, relax and explore new interests.

Absolutely! Boarders are encouraged to maintain regular contact with their families through phone calls, video chats and visits. We also host events throughout the year to bring families and the boarding community together.

Boarders enjoy three nutritious meals a day prepared by our onsite catering team. Meals cater to a variety of dietary needs and preferences, ensuring all students are well-nourished and ready for the day ahead.

Yes, Guildford Grammar warmly welcomes international students into our boarding community. Our proximity to Perth Airport, multicultural environment and tailored support ensure that international boarders feel at home and are well-supported academically and socially.

The Boarding Precinct is equipped with medical facilities and access to a school nurse. For more serious concerns, students are referred to local healthcare providers, with staff overseeing their care and informing families as needed.

Guildford Grammar School provides dedicated transport options to ensure boarders can easily and safely travel to co-curricular activities, sporting events and excursions. For international and regional students, we also offer transport to and from Perth Airport at the beginning and end of term, as well as during scheduled breaks. Our boarding staff coordinate all transport arrangements, ensuring clear communication with families and a smooth experience for students.

To ensure your child has the best possible start, we recommend finalising enrolment early to allow them to participate in Guildford Ascent onboarding program. Contact our Admissions team to begin the process and secure your child’s place in our boarding community.
