Round Square at Guildford Grammar
We’re proud to be a Round Square Candidate School, joining a global network dedicated to character, global citizenship and experiential learning. This partnership strengthens our commitment to providing an education that prepares young people to contribute to a just, loving and peaceful society, grounded in our values and enriched by opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom.
Round Square brings together more than 180 schools across the world that share a common belief: students grow through challenge, inquiry, service and exposure to different cultures. The network is guided by six IDEALS, Internationalism, Democracy, Environmental Stewardship, Adventure, Leadership and Service, principles that align naturally with our existing programs, including Guildford Horizons, Outdoor Learning, Bush School and our extensive co-curricular offering.
A Global Network with Shared Purpose
As a Candidate School, Guildford Grammar gains access to a global community of like-minded schools that value character, connection and active citizenship. Through this network, our students and staff can take part in exchanges, immersions, collaborative projects, student leadership conferences and digital connections with schools around the world. These experiences offer safe, structured and meaningful opportunities to see the world from new perspectives and to learn alongside peers from diverse cultures.
Round Square significantly enhances the Guildford Horizons program, widening the pathways available for international and interstate learning. It supports our goal of giving every student the chance to step into environments beyond Western Australia and develop the confidence, understanding and adaptability that come from real-world experiences.
Learning Through Culture and Connection
Round Square strengthens the cultural and global learning already embedded at GGS. Our current international experiences, including the Singapore STEAM Tour, Oxford University Immersion, Nepal Trek and Service Tour, the Performing Arts Tour, and our exchange partnership with St Paul’s School in Baltimore, give students valuable opportunities to broaden their worldview. Round Square membership will allow us to grow these programs and introduce new experiences that teach global understanding through genuine immersion.
Democratic thinking and student voice also have a strong presence at Guildford Grammar. Programs such as debating, mock trials, Model UN, public speaking and Philosothon encourage students to express their ideas clearly, listen respectfully and participate in constructive dialogue. Round Square expands on this by offering platforms for international collaboration and opportunities to learn how different communities approach leadership and decision-making.
Connection to Country and Care for the Environment
Our campus, located on Wadjuk Noongar Boodjar, is a defining part of learning. Students develop a deep connection to Country through Bush School, Outdoor Learning, sustainability programs and environmental initiatives across the School. These experiences teach students to respect the land, understand their role in caring for local ecosystems and act with responsibility.
Round Square complements this work by providing access to global environmental projects, partnerships and student-led initiatives focused on stewardship and sustainability.
Leadership, Service and Personal Growth
Leadership at Guildford Grammar is grounded in service and personal responsibility. Students take on meaningful roles across the School through House activities, enrichment programs, the Prefect system, buddy programs and emerging initiatives such as Future Female Leaders.
Our service programs, including Guildford Connect, community partnerships, Friday enrichment activities and a formal Year 10 service requirements, give students structured opportunities to contribute to local organisations, support younger students and respond to real needs within the community.
Round Square strengthens these experiences through leadership conferences, service opportunities and international partnerships that help students grow into thoughtful, principled leaders.
