We are currently working through the Go Forward Scholarship process which will then be followed by the Indigenous and Refugee applications.

As parents would be aware we have in recent years posted a printed copy of Semester Reports home, whilst also providing an online version for Senior School families. We have made the decision this year to discontinue posting printed copies due to a number of factors. A key factor is the resources, both material and human, required in posting printed copies and the environmental benefits in making the change. Feedback from many parents has indicated that they have already accessed and read the online version by the time the printed one arrives, making it somewhat superfluous, as well as the fact that the printed copies often arrive while families are away on holiday. We will email parents with instructions on how to access the electronic reports in the coming weeks.

The theme of Reconciliation Week this year is ‘Grounded in Truth, Walk Together with Courage’.

At Guildford Grammar School we encourage all members of our community to walk together on the path towards reconciliation and to be prepared to face up to the truth of our past and its impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We give thanks for the strength of our Boodjar Bidi Indigenous program and the opportunities it provides for all of our students to learn from each other and walk together with courage.

This Friday evening, 31 May, our Boodjar Bidi dance group and members of our Music program will be providing pre-game entertainment at the Western Force versus Kagifa Samoa Indigenous Appreciation match. This follows on from a special day last week during which our students helped players paint their boots in an Indigenous theme to be worn during the game on Friday night.

The following prayer provides a wonderful reflection as we celebrate Reconciliation Week together.

THE RAINBOW PRAYER
Dear Loving Lord, Creator of all,
you created us all in your own image,
one image - many colours,
one image - many cultures.
You made us come together like a rainbow,
separate parts but coming together in one creation.
Help us to see the beauty you have created in each and every one of us.
Dear Loving Lord, we are your creation,
hear the cries of your people.
You gave us ears to hear and eyes to see,
open our eyes to what you want us to see,
help us always to look to you to see the wisdom of your ways.
Dear Loving Lord, Creator of all,
you gave us hearts to love and minds to reason.
Help us to understand our differences and grow in love for each other.
Help us to come together as the rainbow comes together, many colours, shining as one creation over all the earth
as you intended us to be.
In the name of your dear Son, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
