Meet the New Principal - commencing in 2020
The Guildford Grammar School Council is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Principal, the 13th in the 123 year history of the School.
Mrs Anne Dunstan, who is currently the Principal of Pulteney Grammar School in Adelaide, has been appointed to the role to commence at the start of 2020.A
Mitchell Wells, Chair of Council said that following a comprehensive recruitment process, Anne was selected as the best candidate from an outstanding local, national and international field, based on her inclusive leadership style, exceptional interpersonal skills, strong strategic focus and values and core beliefs that closely align with those of the School.
“Anne has extensive experience in an Anglican co-educational environment from Early Learning to Year 12 and the School Council is confident that she will lead the School towards its goal of personal excellence for all students,” Mr Wells said.
“Anne is an experienced educational leader with a track record of delivering transformational change. Her strengths include the relational, strategic and operational domains of school leadership. Her focus on student engagement and academic rigour will see our students grow and learn in and beyond school.”
“Importantly, Anne shares our commitment to student wellbeing and pastoral care and will continue to provide a safe, nurturing and collaborative environment where students learn as equals, side by side, as well as receiving the individualised support they need to thrive and excel. She joins us at an exciting time in our history and we are excited at the prospect of working with her, and we look forward to her significant contribution to our School community.”
Anne has served as the Principal of Pulteney Grammar School in Adelaide since January 2014. During that time, she focused on creating a culture of innovative teaching and lifelong learning through an ethos of excellence. Through individual and collective capacity building and extensive infrastructure development, under Anne’s leadership the school is now firmly positioned as an innovative educational leader in Adelaide.
Prior to this role, Anne was the Deputy Head and Head of the Senior School of Scotch Oakburn College in Tasmania from 2009 to 2013 where she worked across two campuses to develop, implement and measure the vision for learning that fostered innovation and improved student engagement.
Anne holds a Masters of Leadership and Education Management from the University of Newcastle. She is currently the Deputy Chair of the Association of Independent Schools of South Australia and is a member of the South Australian Certificate of Education Board.
Anne is looking forward to settling into Western Australia with her husband Ben and getting to know the School community. Having spent five years away from a school with a boarding facility, she is particularly looking forward to engaging with the boarding community and to realising the School’s unique vision to deliver a state-of-the-art co-educational boarding facility where sons and daughters, and sisters and brothers, can live together on the School’s magnificent campus on the Swan River at the gateway to the Swan Valley.
Anne will join Guildford Grammar School in January 2020, taking over from Stephen Webber, who will leave the School at the end of this year. The School Council would like to acknowledge Stephen’s leadership, compassion and vision and congratulate him on his new appointment.
Anne will spend some time at Guildford in 2019 to commence her transition and become more familiar with the School before she officially commences in January 2020.
