Head of Music working with Darwin Symphony Orchestra!

27 Jun 2019

Congratulations to our Director of Music, Mr Kieran Hurley, who has been commissioned to arrange music for the Darwin Symphony Orchestra for their musical show "Aussie Rock Legends" which is being performed this Saturday! Mr Hurley was commissioned by Old Guildfordian Mr Jonathan Tooby (St 82-86) who is the Musical Director and Conductor of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. Mr Hurley had to write and arrange the tunes for the Rock Band, Vocals and Orchestra, changing the songs enough to be interesting but not so much that they couldn't be enjoyed by the general public! The impressive score for the performance includes:

“Chisel!”– a medley of ‘When the War is Over’, Khe Sanh’ and ‘Forever Now’
“Beds are Burning” by Midnight oil
“Boys Light Up” by Australian Crawl
“Dumb Things” by Paul Kelly
"Eagle Rock” by Daddy Cool
“Great Southern Land” by Icehouse
"I Am Australian” by The Seekers
“I Still Call Australia Home” by Peter Allen
“Land Down Under” by Men at Work
“Like Wow, Wipeout” by Hoodoo Gurus
“Long Way to the Top” by ACDC
“Never Tear Us Apart” by INXS
“Pleasure and Pain” by Divinyls
“Solid Rock” by Goanna
“The Voice” by John Farnham
“Arrival of the Queen of Thunderstruck” by Handel/ACDC
“Under the Milky Way Tonight”

We look forward to hearing more about the performance on his return!
