Badminton has been played amongst the PSA schools since 1993. There have been significant changes in the strength of all schools over this time and currently the competition is very intense.
Numbers in the sport are continually increasing due to its growing popularity, and within the School's badminton community there is developing a strong and positive culture of teamwork, sportsmanship and determination to succeed.
Guildford is very privileged to have the coaching expertise of Mr Nick Kidd, a national champion and Australian representative in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. Under his tutelage students are given the opportunity to quickly progress towards meeting their potential in the sport.
Badminton is available to boys in Years 10, 11 and 12. There are four teams with six players in each. Boys train in the School Gymnasium, the 1sts and 2nds squads on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the 3rds and 4ths squads on Mondays and Wednesdays from 3.45pm to 5.00pm. Matches are played at 9.00am on Saturday mornings and consist of six singles and three doubles matches per team.
