Athletics
The athletics program at Guildford Grammar School takes place during Term 3 each year. Ultimately, there are two main purposes behind the athletics program. Firstly, we aim to help students to develop their fitness and stamina which can be easily transferred to a range of summer sports during Term 4. Secondly, we aim to coach and develop our talented athletes in order to create a track and field team with the skills and determination required to find success both within the school program and at the PSA interschool carnival.
Our coaching staff ranges from past students to seasoned and experienced trainers. We are lucky to have a large coaching staff which allows us to provide the boys with specialist, small-group training; a vital aspect of athlete development.
Athletics training and selection to interschool events is open to all boys in the Senior School. Training occurs on Monday and Wednesday evening for our Junior boys (Years 8-10) and on Tuesday and Thursdays for our Senior boys (Years 11-12) though boys are encouraged to attend as many training sessions as possible in order to achieve maximum benefit and results.
