Guildford Grammar School will be fully co-educational by 2019, with boarding facilities available by 2020.
In 2018, we will introduce girls into the Year 7, Year 8 and Year 11 classes and in 2019 will have girls in all years, Kindergarten to Year 12.
The rationale for the staggered entry is to enable girls to join at the key Senior School
intake years. Many new students join in Year 7 or Year 8 and the structure of the years is designed to help them transition to the Senior School.
Year 11 is another time in which students and their parents often reconsider their school. Introducing girls in Year 11 will give them two years of preparation within the one school for final exams, and will mean 2019 will see our first co-educational graduation.
It is also our intention to open enrolments for girls to begin boarding at Guildford Grammar School in 2020. Obviously, this change requires more logistical planning so we will wait for day students to be well embedded in the Senior School before this change takes place.
We will hold a number of community workshops for members of our community. These workshops will give all interested students, parents, community members and Old Guildfordians an opportunity to suggest measures that work towards the end goal of full co-education, while supporting and preserving the best of our culture. The next Community Workshop will be held on Wednesday 15 February 2017 at 6.30pm in the DLD. You can register your attendance by clicking here
We are excited by the changes that lie ahead, and by the opportunity to engage with students and the broader community to shape the future of our School.
