Languages
The Languages program at Guildford Grammar School is full and varied, offering one European language (French) and two Asian languages (Mandarin Chinese and Indonesian). The program begins in Year 5 with a three-year introduction to Chinese, and students at Year 8 continue their language learning experience by choosing one of the three languages.
Courses are designed to be inclusive and cater for multi-level learning. We use current pedagogical methods with an emphasis on communication, ‘real life language’ and challenging learning experiences that engage students through various types of technology. In this way we aim to ensure student success and enjoyment of language learning and foster an interest in not only the language but also the culture of each country.
All three languages are continued through to the end of Year 12 and cater for both Second Language and Background Speakers.
