Music School
The Music School has a strong emphasis on the value of performance and composition, giving music students opportunities to develop performance skills and explore creativity through composition. Approximately 600 students are actively involved in class music studies, both in the Preparatory and Senior School Campuses. Music is an integral part of the curriculum at Guildford Grammar School and is a compulsory subject for all students from K-7. Guildford also offers Music as an elective subject in Year 8, 9 and 10 and TEE Music (Music E632) in Year 11 and 12.
Preparatory School Music Program
The Preparatory School Music Program gives every student the opportunity to be part of the String Program, starting in Year 5 and the Band Program for all Year 6 and 7 students.
Instrumental & Vocal Program
The Instrumental and Vocal Program gives students the opportunity to learn an instrument by Guildford Grammar Music School’s professional music tutors.
Music School Band & Ensemble Program
The Music School Band and Ensemble Program enables students to be part of a variety of musical ensembles from musical styles such as, Western Art Music, Jazz, Contemporary, Sacred Music and World Music. All Bands and Ensembles perform regularly festivals and concerts throughout Perth.
Combined Guildford Grammar & Perth College Combined Music Program
The Combined Guildford Grammar and Perth College Combined Music Program joins together top music students from Guildford Grammar and Perth College to form the Combined Senior Concert Band, Senior Orchestra and Combined Choir. Approximately 50 Guildford students are actively involved in these premier ensembles.
Visiting Music Artists Program
The Visiting Music Artists Program gives music students the opportunity to regularly view professional performances of bands and music theatre, in addition to performing themselves.
Scholarships
Music Scholarships
Music Scholarships (Instrumental and Choral) offer remission of fees as well as free instrumental tuition and free hire of instruments. Scholarships are usually awarded for entry into Year 8.
