Boys Raising Funds for Cambodian Orphanage
24 Oct 2011 | Boys Raising Funds for Cambodian Orphanage
The students will partner with local aid organisation, Awareness Cambodia Inc., travelling to the province of Kampong Speu to live at the Sunshine House Orphanage for six nights. Kampong Speu is the poorest region in Cambodia and Awareness Cambodia Inc. has made this region the focus of their outreach to the Cambodian people.
The fundraising dinner, organised by the Watson family, will be held at 7.00pm on Thursday 17 November 2011, at 1907 Restaurant in Perth. The dinner is a five-course degustation meal, with wines, at a cost of $175 per person. The boys have arranged a raffle and auction, with all proceeds going directly to Sunshine House.
In late September, the touring party held the Can4Cambodia barbeque lunch on the School grounds, as one of their fundraising events. Year 11 student Richard Dewar hatched the idea, with generous families contributing items towards the barbeque. All of the produce sold well, with the boys raising $500.
The students have funded the cost of the trip themselves, with the aim of renovating a small music classroom in Sunshine House, and lending a hand with other manual tasks around the Orphanage.
